2005 TeamSport Racing Watercraft Racing Schedule
TeamSport Racing Promotions, Inc. (“TSR”) announces their racing schedule for 2005. The Texas watercraft racing promoter, innovators of the fast “SuperCourse” format, will again host the “Texas Aquamoto SuperCourse Racing Series”, as well as other championship racing events and formats.
2005 will be TeamSport Racing’s fourth year of SuperCourse racing, which has been likened to motorcycle road racing “on the water”. TSR showcased the high-speed format, to the anticipation of many, this past October at the 2004 World Finals in Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Several format changes will be made for the 2005 schedule to further enhance the sport, including fewer “two-day” events, the first-ever “Texas Cup - East/West Challenge”, and the reinstatement of “Team” racing.
Only two of the five “regular season” events (excludes Nationals) will be two-day affairs, which will better accommodate the majority of the racers’ lifestyles.
Each of the regular season weekends will feature the highly popular team-racing format on Saturday afternoons, as has been done in the past. This coming season however, will see the introduction of “Lottery Teams”, which will pair up teams by drawing. Experts and Pros will be matched up with Beginners and Novices for each race. Every event will see different team combinations, which will add more excitement and strategy to the races.
By racing on a lottery team, each individual will accumulate their own points that will increase their chances of winning a Grand Prize at the end of the season. The team-racing events will be one hour long, with a handicapping system that will better insure both teammates get equal time on the water. TSR will later announce further information on the new team-racing concept.
The all-new “Texas Cup – East/West Challenge” will be a two-day championship event using the moto-scoring method to determine individual class champions. Two sponsors (TBA), one each representing the Eastern and Western United States, will host the event as racers from each half of the country try to collectively win the “Texas Cup”, and the associated bragging rights for their respective side.
Other changes and/or additions to the TeamSport Racing season will include:
-Shorter time formats for Beginner, Novice (and some Amateur) race classes.
-Recreational rider reserved time on the course at each event.*
-A separate “MiniCourse” practice-course at each event for Recreational, Junior and Stand-up riders.*
*Certain restrictions will apply.
TeamSport Racing is sanctioned by the United States Watercross Racing Association (USWRA), and the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA).
